Pete Buttigieg, JD Vance at top of new 2028 presidential primary poll

A new Emerson College poll released July 23 shows Buttigieg leading potential Democratic contenders with 19%, followed by Gavin Newsom at 17%. Jon Ossoff and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are tied at 13%, with several other Democrats trailing behind them.
On the Republican side, Vance narrowly edges Secretary of State Marco Rubio 39% to 38%, while Ron DeSantis sits far back at 5%. That split suggests the GOP field is already narrowing toward a two-person early favorite tier.
