Son of ousted Iran shah urges security forces to ‘stand with the people’
New appeals
Pahlavi called on Iranian officials and security forces to join the protest movement, framing their choice as one between supporting the public and remaining complicit in repression. He also backed demonstrations outside Iran.[16]
Symbols and backlash
Supporters have used the Lion and Sun flag at rallies, including a reported flag change at Iran’s embassy in London. Iranian authorities responded by summoning Britain’s ambassador, indicating the symbolism has become diplomatically sensitive.[16]
The central test
The campaign may increase Pahlavi’s visibility among opponents of clerical rule, but public demonstrations abroad cannot substitute for defections or organized political structures inside Iran. His ability to lead would therefore depend on events within the country, not only on international momentum.[16]
